Retreats & Special Events

We love to share mindfulness practices, teachings, and experiences – and getting to do that in amazing places with like-minded people is awesome! Spending time in new places opens our minds and hearts to new ways of being in this world. It fosters resilience, expands our awareness, and helps us discover more about who we really are.

Retreats offer unique benefits:

It sparks gratitude in so many ways! – for opportunities, beauty, friendship, health, and our own homes. And cultivating gratitude is known to promote physical, emotional and social well-being. It also helps us tap into our natural sense of awe and wonder. We begin to see the world as this amazing place that both homes us and needs us.

It gives us “off-line” time and the chance to truly unplug for a bit. Powering down is so necessary for our long-term mental and physical health. We tend to power through until we are exhausted and stressed, taking time to rest, deeply restore, and rejuvenate is not just important, but essential.

Retreat time is a beautiful way to make connections that last a lifetime. Sharing experiences and doing the journey work of self-discovery with a group of people makes creating and deepening friendships a natural part of retreats. These bonds are indelible.

It also opens our minds to how we are all so much more alike than different. And that breeds kinder, gentler ways of being – for all of us.

What Previous Travelers Have to Say

Augusta and David's retreats are a wellspring of joy for the body, mind, spirit and soul. The movement components of yoga and qigong are skillfully taught and intertwined with dharma teachings that are accessible and deeply touching. Their classes are rich with thoughtful stories, witty wisdom, and delightful blessings. The community is carefully created and well tended throughout the retreat, resulting in ongoing friendships long after we return home.

As someone who facilitates and attends many retreats a year, these are truly ones I look forward to and I am so gratefully enriched with each one. I cannot recommend Augusta and David's retreats highly enough!

- Susan Frederick

Augusta and David Kantra are masters at creating experiential retreats in fantastic settings that open the heart and quiet the mind.

Through a thoughtful combination of yoga and mindfulness trainings and exercises, hiking and sightseeing, hotel accommodations, wonderful food, picturesque settings and a group of lovely, kind and very gentle people, Augusta and David have created a very, very rare experience.

I highly recommend their retreats - whether you are a newcomer or have vast experience with this type of getaway. You simply cannot go wrong!

- Andy Citrin

I have never been to a retreat like this before, and honestly, I was skeptical about the whole group experience.  However, on the first day, Augusta and David's easy going and authentic natures drew me in.  It was easy to trust them.

The ideas and concepts in the morning group sessions around a common theme gave me good direction in many areas in my life — work, love, boundaries, transitions and overall contentment in life. We loved exploring and hiking in the afternoons with new friends.  We've already signed up for another trip!

Hooked On A Feeling: Connecting To The Heart Through Yoga, Mindfulness and Guided Reflections

21-27 September 2025
Feathered Pipe Ranch.  Helena, Montana

Remember feeling free as a bird and light as a feather? Well, this retreat on the sacred grounds of Feathered Pipe Ranch is designed to bring that feeling back.

There is no greater gift one can give oneself than the gift of time and kind attention. This retreat will be a chance to re-engage with the essence of who you are; a chance to slow down to the speed of nature, to unplug, to explore and discover what it means to live wholeheartedly. We, David and Augusta Kantra, have been teaching mindfulness workshops, yoga trainings, and self-discovery groups for over 20 years. Join us to re-discover the being beneath all the doing.

Combining mindfulness, yogic philosophy, and movement – this will be a week of de-cluttering the mind, resting and rejuvenating the body, and stoking the fires of the heart and soul. The practices we include will be accessible to everyone. There will be time for teachings, meditation, journaling, guided reflections, and movement (asana, restorative yoga, qi gong) all within a safe and nurturing environment.

Another important component of this retreat will be time to just BE – time to settle, to rest, to connect with others and with nature, and time to integrate new learnings and heart opening perspectives.

The gift of retreat is not as much a luxury as it is an essential part of coming home to ALL of who you are.

Give yourself, and the world, the gift of YOU.

We have held retreats in amazing places like Spain, Italy, Mexico, and Sonoma, California, but this is our first time coming to the sacred land of Feathered Pipe. We felt pulled to this place and are excited to teach here and share this amazing experience with you. Join us!

Listening to the Soul: A Yoga and Mindfulness Retreat

April 5 - 12, 2025
Mar de Jade Retreat Center, Chacala, Mexico

Join Augusta and David Kantra, along with Stacy Reckeweg, for a week on the Pacific coast where the jungle meets the sea and the invitation is to immerse yourself in practices that rejuvenate, restore, and heal the soul. This is an opportunity to experience the transformative benefits of taking the time to dive deeply into a practice of daily mindfulness – mind, body and spirit. This is a chance to deeply focus on your inner whisperings, to tune into what your body needs, and to nourish yourself completely. Treat yourself and your soul, to a week dedicated entirely to you.

Our days will begin with mindful movement (Qi Gong or Yoga) and guided meditation, followed by a beautiful, healthy breakfast. We’ll re-gather for a dharma talk and instruction time, and then there will be plenty of free time to walk the beach, hang out in a hammock, schedule an excursion or spa treatment, spend time with friends, rest, or play – suit yourself. Later in the afternoon, we will have a yoga class followed by a guided practice of meditation and journaling. In the evening, we will offer restorative yoga to invite the body and mind to relax and release.

Augusta, David and Stacy are all seasoned teachers. Their approach is attentive, compassionate, light-hearted, and supportive. All the practices they offer are designed to open the heart and to help you discover what moves you further into balance, alignment and integrity – on and off the mat. Our intention for each participant is to leave the retreat feeling inspired, restored  and in touch with the wisdom of the heart and the whisperings of the soul.

No prior yoga or meditation experience is required. All levels are welcome. The only requirement is the willingness to show up and explore.
